Before we delve into the topic of how video can be used to bolster internal communications, let us first look at internal communications itself. According to the business academics Raymond Vincent Lesikar and John D. Pettit, internal communications can be defined as:
“The structured communication within the organisation that directly relates to achieving the organization’s work goal.”
Internal communications aim to facilitate effective communications among people throughout an organisation. As part of their role, internal communicators are responsible for producing and sharing messages on behalf of management and for engaging in a dialogue with staff members. Some companies do have an internal communications team, however, in many cases these responsibilities are carried out by the HR, marketing, or PR departments.
